It’s odd what things will come back to visit you long after you think you’ve left them behind. Sometimes it’s something big—a feeling or mindset that was pushed into the background of the brain—and other times it’s something really small. As an example, today my old calculator, whose batteries have been dead for over a year, upon receiving new batteries coyly said to me:
10-1.5
8.5
Ans*4
34
Ans*4π-1
At first I was simply surprised that it somehow kept my last operations in memory for over a year. Then I began to be curious as to why I was subtracting 1.5 from 10, multiplying by 4, and then multiplying by 4π-1. It was one of those odd things where you wonder, “What was I thinking then?” On the other hand, when some other things unexpectedly come back to you, you know exactly what you were thinking.
